What is HardWired 2026?

HardWired is a 2-week electronics project sprint focused on exploring, practising and expanding programming, electronics, and building skills in a extended hackathon setting. Student teams develop a physical electronics project product, based off of the cyberdeck and experimental tech movement, and present to a panel of judges and a student audience at the Closing Ceremony.

The Opening Ceremony is when the theme will be unveiled to participating teams. The CISSA and MUEEC teams will be going through general housekeeping and competition rules during the evening, and also help participants form teams if necessary.

Day 2 - 4 are workshop days where MUEEC and CISSA will run workshops to introduce participants to the basics of electronics projects, hardware, and software.

Day 5 - 12 are working days where rooms will be booked for participants to work in. Mentors will be invited to attend to lend their expertise and guide teams in their project sprint. The project submission deadline will be at 5:00pm Friday 31st July 2026

The Showcase and Closing Ceremony is where participant teams will present their final products to the judging panel and audience. Judges will ask each team any questions they may have, and then award the prizes to the winning teams.

REQUIREMENTS

Submission deadline: Friday 31st of July, 2026 at 5:00PM sharp

HardWired 2026 will be using Devpost to showcase your projects and innovations while ensuring a smooth running judging process. All teams are required to make a valid submission on Devpost to qualify for the final round or be considered for any prizes. A valid submission is constituted by:

  1. YOUR TEAM NAME
  2. An explanation of your project, background information, and the process of developing your idea.
  3. Upload a PDF in your Devpost submission with detailed instructions on how to run your project. (If we cannot turn on your project, this will result in heavy penalties)
  4. URL link to a PUBLICLY VISIBLE Github repository page showing your project code and digital assets.
  5. URL link to a 3-5 minute long pitch video that showcases your project. Any platform that allows the video to be publicly viewed is accepted, e.g. Youtube/Google Drive/Vimeo etc.
  6. Answer all of the submission questions.

Please ensure that your project submission contains a submission title (we recommend using your project name + a simple tagline for this), photos/videos for your project gallery, and the project description.
